2007 Yaris Hatchback A/C Compressor Clutch Removal

Hi,

Was trying to help my dad fix the A/C in his 2007 Yaris

There is voltage going to the compressor plug when we turn the A/C on but the clutch does not engage. Tried tapping it with a hammer with no luck. I am having some trouble figuring out how to remove the clutch on the A/C compressor, would anybody have any tips? I can't seem to find a maintenance procedure on it.

It looks just like the one in this link

https://www.ebay.com/itm/BRAND-NEW-A...-/263101079772

A 10mm socket fits in the middle hole and onto the shaft but the clutch spins when I try to remove it which i know is normal, when I use a SST to hold the clutch I am wondering do I just crank the 10mm socket counter clockwise to loosen it? or do I hold the 10mm socket in place and rotate the clutch plate counter clockwise to remove it?

Hoping somebody has an idea

Thanks!

Most new A/C compressors that I've run into you can't replace the clutch assembly - you just buy a reman with the clutch installed already. I don't know if that's the case for the 2007 Yaris, but it is on my 2007 FJ Cruiser for sure.

Not sure what other troubleshooting you've done, but if I recall the A/C compressor won't engage if the system pressure is too low. Possible you have a leak and the compressor won't kick on because the pressure has dropped? If possible, check the system pressure and see if that's your problem - which if that's the case also means a new compressor clutch won't solve your A/C issues, lol.

Good luck - let us know how you make out!

My 2007 Yaris does not have the AC clutch. There is a solenoid valve instead. Are you sure your Yaris does have AC clutch?
