2010 Headgasket

I owned a 2007 yaris sedan until 2012 when it was totaled in wreck.

I then bought a 2010 yaris sedan, and with about 60K miles I need a new headgasket. I'm debating...fix it ($1650) OR get a newer model.

Thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions? Commiserations?

hey what? new head gasket how is that possible on a 2010 yaris with only 60k first time i hear of head gasket problems on the 1.5 engine , u should see if u are still with in the warranty 5yrs 100km power train also was is documented before warranty up they can do a role back and fix it.
The fix is not that expensive lot cheaper than a newer car but if so go with 2012 up.

For way less than $1650 (typically $500 or less) you can purchase a junkyard engine (with a warranty). Swapping the engine is actually an easier job than swapping a head gasket.

After I posted this and started writing the numbers down I went through my paperwork, the car is still under warranty (extended warranty, yay). The dealership wants to look at it first though to decide if its 'covered' or not...
