I managed to fit a full size spare in the back of my 2012 Hatch, but the hybrids might have a different size

This is tac welded to the car, so before doing this you need to make sure you don't have any emotional attachments to that doughnut. I simple took a big hammer and beat it out...but you can definitely grind away the tac welds. then simply fill the holes in and ta da! full size spare room

Spare tire well riser removal

! I've puzzled over that thing...what it does and how to remove (for flat seat-deleted floor when 14" mini-spare goes on the front "bumper." )Did you hit a chisel between it and the pan where the spot welds are? Or just wack the riser itself? The holes shown in photos result, w/ no drilling involved?

I would recommend a Chisel...but i didn't have one in my hand so i just whacked and patched after lol. The holes are where the welds where. I didn't drill them out

Spare tire well riser removal

Might work w/ a ball-ish stone in a die grinder working down through just the riser piece at the spot welds. Then should be easy to knock it off and clean up pan w/ no holes?
(prolly easier than removing wheel cover anti-rotate keys on wheels that are never going to see a full cover...my Yaris doesn't have, but circa 1990 Miata and Corolla do.)

It could, i filled the holes in after and sprayed the whole spare tire well with rubber coating

As a quick update, i tracked down a 15inch full size wheel. I think it belonged to an older peugeot. It did it fit in the boot, yey since its not a space saver it atuck a bit higher up than the wheel hole so i lost some luggage space..but space saver wheels i found didn't fit due to hybrid having disc brakes on the rear. http://imgur.com/a/s4TPY

I did notice that the bit you guys had to grind off/remove seemed missing already in mine.

I use a full size spare tire. Bit larger than a dummy tire but if I get a flat I can just throw it on and go with no worries.

Good stuff, but its either the tire size i picked or dunno cos fromwhat ive. Read through other posts no one mentioned losing vertical space when fitting full sizw wheel. That isnt a plus with me, in fact i ended up removing thr parcel shelf

Re-considering, I might first try through-drilling the spot welds w/ a 3/16 bit so that if it then chisels off cleanly, the tower can be easily re-installed with pop-rivets. Noting not to let the drill go deeper than required to get through the sheet metal...there's car parts under there.
(Wouldn't happen until the mini-spare is on the front "bumper")
