Recall notice
Evidently there is a recall on older yaris models 06-10 concerning the drivers seat track locking mechanism, evidently over time the spring mechanism can break causing the seat to not lock in place.
Solution is to replace entire tracking mechanism, service dept said its a 2 hour job. As the car is now 7 years old with 180K i'm wondering if its worth the hassle to get it done..

It all depends on how much you value your life or someone else's if they drive the car and the mechanism fails possibly causing death, dismemberment, or maiming. This is like the folks that complain with Land Speed Racing about how expensive the safety equipment is. Prime example is the fire suppression system. Baseline cost of $800 and goes up from there, but if you have to use it then you are covered.
The funny thing in a related case is that I recently sold my 1996 Ford Bronco full size. I received a recall letter a couple weeks back for it...it is almost 20 years old! Apparently they have to replace a line that could if broken could cause a fire in the engine bay. I fwd'ed it on to the new owner. Insurance companies are now getting more savvy to things too. I was informed by USAA that if you ignore a factory safety recall and there is subsequent damages caused by ignoring it then the liability rests on your shoulders and they will not cover those subsequent damages to you or the vehicle.

Had mine done. It is 1.5 hrs to do it and it is FREE. Covered under the recall notice. Their valet service drove me home and then picked me up when the job was done.

I had the car at the dealership for a front bumper replacement (tangled with interstate debris) and they told me they had the notices but the dealership had not authorized the parts to be brought in yet... they were like "call back in a few weeks." They also told me the same thing for the airbag issue I think these were recalled for???

I've recieved two letters, both telling me they are still working on a solution and to wait until I get something stating to take it in. How long are we going to have to wait?!?

I just dropped off my Yaris for this exact recall and it took about 3-4 hours not bad and the shuttle took me home and take me back. I'm hoping they'll have a recall on the Airbag light always being on.
