cheap coupe

ive had a yaris few months and great car but in terms of drive satisfaction and power leaves a bit to be desired.

Im looking for a cheap coupe that has low road tax, timing chain and 1.8+ something that has a bit of power.

Any ideas appreciated.

My 2000 Accord sedan had a 2.3 engine and it wasn't any more peppy than my Yaris is. It's mostly about basic horsepower-to-weight ratio, and most automakers give their 'non-performance commuter models' just enough horsepower to hit a certain ratio threshold versus its curb weight - whether you are talking about a 3000 pound car with 150 horsepower or a 2000 pound car with 100 horsepower.

I have no complaints about my 1.5L Yaris, so I guess the 1.3L is slow.

I suppose you need a UK member to recommend a car that's readily available where you're located.

rafhelp: are you using revs available when wanting more acceleration? check owner's manual for top speeds in the different gears.
