07 yaris weird engine noise

My 07 yaris is making some weird noises. Seems to be coming from the left side of the engine towards where the pulleys are. I have no clue whats going on with it. Everything still works fine and car drives fine. Just that there is the noise. The noise doesn't get louder or softer with revving the car. It only gets a little louder for a few seconds after the fan kicks in. My A/C actually stopped working for a day last week too. Now it's fine, not sure if that has anything to do with the noise.

link to video I took.

try shutting the a/c off to see if it gets louder, you could also take the belt off to see if the noise goes away all together.

You may want to check the Water pump.

How many miles on it?

Does the A/C still blow cold air?

Do you have water spots in a line directly above the pulleys under the hood?

seems like coolant might be leaking by the looks of those spots to the left on the tire well .

No it doesn't get louder if I turn on or off the a/c. The a/c does still work though, it was only one day when the a/c didn't work. A/C doesn't seem as cold as it was brand new though. No water spots.

The spots on the left are actually from wd40. I sprayed the belt just to see if that would help with the noise but didn't do anything.

Cars a little dirty, haven't cleaned under the hood at all since I've owned it.

Sorry for double post. Just got a call from my dad. He dropped the car off at the dealership today. Apparently it is a leaking oil pump.

The car has almost 60,000 miles on it and the warranty was over by 30,000 but the oil pump I guess is still covered under warranty. :)

The car has been making this sound for about 2 weeks now, hopefully driving it around like that hasn't done much damage to it.

Thanks for the help guys.

LOL water pump. I have no clue why I wrote oil pump earlier. It was the water pump.

still , shouldn't be happening so soon or at all . We had a '86 CHEVY Nova ( Corolla ) with over 274,000 miles with original water pump . TOYOTAs are going down the toilet .

I love the design and the economy of my Yaris, I think it was made almost excellent but the quality on mine came out terrible, I don't like to talk negative about the yaris but like everything else there are some units with lots of problems, mine was one of those.

i also got mine replaced at 56k km. I think it is a common flaw on early 06-07 models...

later 07+ doesn't seem to have such WP weakness.

as of yet . Maybe as the miles pile on for the 2008s' and newer the problem may occur .
