i hate the corolla/IM interior dash too much. HATE IT. The corolla has some funky foil lookin side mirrors that look cheap as all hell... does the iM have the same crap? dunno. prolly does.

I'm 38, far from a teenager, and I think the body kit makes the car look far more stout and appealing. Looks somewhat dinky and wonky without it. That color mix of highlighter and mustard yellow on the other hand...

Not A Fan Of The IM and its ugly rims. Toyota stopped making nice rims after the XR trim for the Matrix in thr bubbly " '09 " generation trim.

Good luck on getting a good deal! I look forward to seeing your updates. Your current Yaris looks very well taken care of so hopefully the dealership will give you a solid trade-in value.

The 2018 refresh isn't my cup of tea for a variety of reasons, but best of luck getting a fair deal on the trade/purchase. No doubt that the SE trim especially will continue to be one of the absolute rarest birds on the road - just like it has always been.
Make sure that you put a stainless-steel exhaust finisher tip on this one. |

Styling quibbles aside on the 2018 Yaris update in general, the European refresh features nice-looking LED taillights, instead of the cheap 1995 halogen-reflector knock-off versions on the 2018 U.S. release. The European release also has side-mirror turn-signals (an actual USEFUL safety feature), unlike the watered-down U.S. release. Typical of the Japanese car company trend of offering inferior versions of their models for the U.S. market - especially when it comes to subcompacts/compacts.

On the positive side, however, there are a few notable improvement with the 2018 refresh (in my opinion) versus the 2015-2017 version:
No more obsolete CD player (at least in the SE trim). The return of integrated rear-bumper safety reflectors. Rear window wiper assembly moved to full window mount instead of rear hatch body mount. No more poorly-designed/implemented rear backup light assembly tacked onto the lower rear bumper. |
