when will they improve the interior?

Is there any chance they'll make changes to the interior? the quality looks rather cheap. I don't mind paying another grand for some improvement in that area.

You can always go aftermarket leather. It shouldn't cost more than $1200 or so.

if they really improved the interior, that will mean a huge price hike.

If someone wants to trick it out, they can do it after paying the econo-prices.

That's good for everybody, because people like me, who could care less as long as the car drives well, can still get the little econo-box we wanted.

leather-wrapped too

Ah but since I got the bucket seats it only really benefits the infrequent people who sit at the back...

I don't actually mind the interior... all things considering.

Yes it has tons of hard plastics (shame Toyota) and the dash seems to go on longer than a Harry Potter novel (a fatwah on you Ms Rowling!) but compared to others the market space... the fit and finish is, IMHO, above par.

Obviously re-tooling the production plants is quite an expensive undertaking, and generally only done when either the vehicle is nearing the mid/end of it is sales cycle, or the competition (read sales figures) dictates. It is often much easier for dealers to offer incentives such as wheel/sound/body kits etc that the dealers themselves can do.

To me the biggest disappointment comes in the seats as they don't offer a lot in the way of lateral support. It feels like your sitting on top of them as opposed to sitting in them. Yes I know you can 'upgrade' seats with aftermarket but its hard to refit when you've gone to the trouble of getting the side/curtain airbags. Maybe the seats will soften with age...or my boney arse will get biger with age {odds on my arse though}.

Anyhow... Yes a new spec would be nice considering I've recently ordered an October build YR. Am I going to be disappointed... nope. Compared to what I'm used to driving (don't ask), for the outstanding value for money it represents, safety featues & general fit/finish, this little beasty will be in the family for a while yet.

The whole "too much plastic" issue seems to come up in every car forum known to man. My question is: if it's not gonna be hard plastic, what's it gonna be? Foam rubber? Plywood? Back to skull-cracking steel? What would satisfy you people!?

I would suggest you purchase new front seats and either lose the rear for cover it, I would spend the money to cover the stock front seats

I think the interior of the Yaris is good considering it's a cheap car.

I wish the plastic didn't mark up so easily from me just brushing up against it, but almost all cars do this.

My only complaint would be the lack of storage in the sedan considering there is ample space for bins of some sort on the centre console and the ones beside the beside of the stereo console do nothing but waste lateral leg room for me.
