oh god....another one

use what you want, everyone has an opinion and they're all different and they all have their reasons why.

if you dont like a particular oil...like i dont like quaker or penzoil, then stay away from it. i like mobile, royal purple, and valvoline. and i'll only use wix, napa or toyota and GM filters. i'll never use fram for anything other than my POS cars because i've had catastrophic failure, twice. so i learned me lessons.

so do what you want and have your own reasons.

mother of god..... didnt we just finish one of these?

personally on my moms car i always just go to canadian tire and get w.e oil is on sale. never really noticed a difference in the oils on the engine and the car has over 230xxxkm on it. mind u its also a v6

my yaris always goes to toyota, for now at least.

find an oil u notice a difference with and enjoy it.

please do a search next time

I've read on the Internet that oil changes are just a bunch of communism, and that American made conventional Standard Oil lasts forever, and the only reason your car doesn't last one million miles is because you've been changing your oil!

Another engine oil thread! Hooray!

But seriously, I just buy what's on sale. I've been working through some Quaker State Synthetic I got for $1.99 per quart last year.

Naysayers,

Eddy has actually started a very concise and potentially interesting thread! The original topic was what oil do YOU use and WHY. He didn't ask for advice or best oil-just wants to know what we use and why. That should eliminate the typical oil thread bickering we've all come to dread if we stay on topic!

Thank you Happy Little Pony for the first post that is totally on topic in this thread! Sound logic and a great price for your oil as well!

I use what ever strikes me/i got a good deal on at oil change time because life is short and I just like using different oils. I guess I suffer from lube promiscuity. I try to make sure I'm using a syn in the extreme cold though (below 0F) because it makes a significant difference in extreme cold weather starting and reduces undesirable engine noise.

ok, the answer to his question and being serious...

i use mobil1. it's still amber in color after 7500 miles. it's extremely slippery when it comes out after 7500 miles. and my oil cap is insanely clean....and if it's clean then so is the valve cover, pan, valleys, trays, lifters....and so on. my dipstick doesnt have any tarnish on it either.

^^ agreed. I've used mobil 1 since I bought the car and it's uber clean throughout the engine. It's also a good price, I would use Royal Purple but it's almost twice the price, so I don't. I only use OEM filters.

I use mobile ONE synthetic oil and a purilater filter A because eneos is expensive to import, order or find on the east coast, most stores dont sell amsoil. in all mobile ONE is the easiest to get a hold of and was one of the first name brand synthetics in the U.S.

and purilater is the filter i get with the oil in a package however ill be looking to change filters soon.

** and yes i know ams oil was the first synthetic motor oil i ride motorcyles and use amsoil or repsol in my bikes**
