Question What is the difference between H4 and 9003 Bulb?

I just bought replacement bulbs, and before i had the 9003 bulbs at 15,000 K....but I had to keep moving them around in order to get the right alligmnent towards the road, because otherwise people would flash their brights at me...Would I have easier time installing H4 instead or are they the same exact same... if so, which way is the metal peice on the bulb supposed to face (ex. 2oclock, etc)

I've used both in my Yaris (9003 and H4) - when installed in my headlamp housing there are 2 small metal prongs that stick out on one of the 3 arms that make it so the bulb only seats properly in one position, if you rotated the bulb 120 degrees I don't believe it would seat properly.
maybe your bulbs are opposite and that's why it's blinding the other people??

I did a quick check on Wiki this is what I found:

Headlamps for right-traffic countries have low beams that "dip to the right", with most of their light directed downward/rightward.

The first dual-filament halogen bulb (to produce a low and a high beam with only one bulb), the H4, was released in 1971. The U.S. prohibited halogen headlamps until 1978, when halogen sealed beams were released. To this day, the H4 is still not legal for automotive use in the United States. Instead, the Americans created their own very similar standard (HB2/9003). The primary differences are that the HB2 sets more strict requirements on filament positioning, and that the HB2 are required to meet the lower maximum output standards set forth by the United States government.

Interesting. I was just looking at my OEM bulbs that I pulled when I installed my silverstars. The OEM ones are OSRAMs and say:

OSRAM HB2 DOT 9003 L GERMANY BILUX 60/55W H4
