rear window wiper

hey, so the rear window wiper is really pissing me off! it wont stop (unless i turn off the switch) it jsut goes back and forth all day long! i want to try to add a delay b3efore it starts each cycle. i can get a hold of a few timers and relays but i was wondering what the best way to do it was.

any help would be great, thanks

look for a rav4 or lexus switch. you can control the speed of the front and rear with it. you can also check out some of the others...it's an easy direct install from 08+ units and possibly some 07...40 bux on ebay

According to this thread, the Yaris does not have a a rear delay module. You can replace the stalk to have an intermittent front wiper, but not a rear one.

According to CTScott, "the intermittent rear requires a module and an extra wire, which the Yaris doesn't have. I picked up the module from a Prius, but it needs feedback from the rear wiper motor, which the Yaris's wiper motor doesn't provide."

He did "build a module which included a potentiometer to allow for fully adjustable rear intermittent using timing to replace the feedback signal, " but I am not sure if he ever installed it as in that thread he stated he had only bench-tested it. Maybe he'll roll in and give an update...

Wait...so...what you're saying is....it's on. Except for when you turn it off? Hmmmmm.

Anyway, this thread talks about swapping intermittent stalk for front into yaris...
http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/sho...ht=wiper+stalk

He goes on to say that theoretically you can pull module out of prius and run wiring, doesn't sound like he ever tested it. I wouldn't put it off as impossible though...really doesn't sound hard, as long as you are handy with electrical wiring. You could also use resistors and stuff from radio shack mid power wire, but that's a bit more advanced. Good luck.

unless you remove it completely, like I did. Much simpler solution.

I haven't gotten around to putting it on the car yet. I put a Prius stalk on my car, which gives me fully adjustable intermittents for the front and one ittermittent position for the rear (which doesn't do anything since the Yaris lacks the wire and the pin connection to take advantage of it.)

The circuit that I built and bench tested does the intermittent thing and has an adjustable delay via a potentiometer (adjustable from 1 second to 1 minute). My plan was to mount the pot in the driver's glove box, since it's not something that I imagined constantly changing.

okay... fine, i will test out my theory tomorrow moring in class...... i'm hoping to use 2 relays and a timer (put either out of the way or some where i can adjust) and that will basically simulate the switch being flicked on and off and certain intervials.....
