Just traded my 12 se for a 1 corolla s
just thought you all should know.
12 blizzard pearl 5 speed is now owned by the dealership im the proud owner of a 14 corolla s b package in blue. there is a big difference between the 2 cars and i am glad i did the upgrade. new one comes with a 6 speed and fuel economy isnt that different. my wife still has an 07 that she probably wont get rid of any time soon. I was looking into that too. A corolla s premium (leather, moonroof, auto climate, 4 disc brake). But I can't really afford it now.

good to hear there are still normal people here. i was thinking i was the only one who makes a call on being able to afford something or not. LOL
back to topic though, the new Corolla is nice, though it feels as huge as a Honda Accord back in the days. not too compact for a compact car. |

let us know what you think of it.
And yes, there are still people who feel they cannot afford new cars. There is a 2015 STi Limited at my local Subaru dealership I want so bad, but I just can't afford a $40k car right now.

The goofy front bumper design and adolescent-looking alloy wheels of the corolla S is a huge turn off for me. I would rather buy a 2014 corolla LE, add the fog lights, rear trunk lip spoiler, and put some 2009-2010 Toyota Matrix XRS OEM styled alloys on it.

i will admit the S package took some time to grow on me, but if i went with the LE i loose the 6 speed, (the rest may be the upgrade package) rear discs, 17's which i don't like the wheels, and he nicer interior and it was $900 cad upgrade.
i like the 6 speed, heated seats, moon roof, stereo and ythe bump in power is nice too. i will have some pics up soon. and yes i still have a soft spot for my 12 SE hatch |

Built in USA vs Japan....
I like the Corollas too, have a 2001 in the family we bought new, still runs great and "smogs" in California.
The Corollas of late are made in USA, Im curious how they do/will hold up 100k, 200k, 300k, ? vs Japanese-built Toyos, and Scions etc.

The corolla has been built in Canada for the longest time. There are no difference since the engine is still made in japan. |

yep, and those corollas from the Cambridge plant had as high or higher scores for reliability than the ones that used to be built in japan.

If you don't take care of it. Any car will rust. Though, some faster than others.
My sedan had issues with paint. And the trunk lid was reprinted in less than a year old. Now I have a rust spot again. |

I would consider a new Corolla and then boost it with 3-4psi of turbo boost. That would be I would think all that it needs to spruce it up. With that low of a boost level you should even be able to run it without independent fuel management. The first turbo that I had would work perfect since it had a .42 AR and unless mistaken wasn't too much coin.
