Fog Lights/Gauges

Some questions

1. Is it possible to buy some at Canadian Tire or just some mountable ones in general? Or do I have to get the stock ones?
2. What exactly does a kit need in order to be put on if I CAN just buy random ones.

pluses of stock compared to randoms?

I just dont wanna pay 800 dollars for this. Seen a cheap ass 'kit' 12.99 lol was tempted to buy it and just see if an auto shop can put it on.

Same with gauges oil etc can I just buy random ones and have a shop install em?

If you have the money, a shop can install virtually anything for you. But if you are low on funds, you might want to look up on how to install the part/items yourself or know someone that can do it for free.

Here is the DIY from MicroImage forums:
http://www.microimageonline.com/foru...ght-Instal-PDF

Good luck out there.

Your biggest concerns for fog lights will be:

1) Should be designed for the car (IE, comes with a wire harness that preferably is plug-n-play with factory stalk)
2) Comes with actual OEM or OEM certified bezels so you don't have some wonky fitment issues
3) Decide if you want Angel Eyes. If you do then be sure they provide you with enough wire length so that you can tie them in where you want (IE, I tied mine to my parking lights)
4) Decide if you want sealed beam projectors, replaceable bulb style, or replaceable H4.
5) Make sure they come with an OEM switch. A lot of them out there will not.
6) Decide if this is merely cosmetic or for functional use.
7) Decide if you want fixed position or adjustable beam. I have seen both.

As for installation you really shouldn't be paying more than a couple hundred bucks for labor if you don't do it yourself. If you decide to do it yourself be prepared to take off your front bumper cover, route the wire harness in the bay, route the switch wiring through the firewall, and take apart panels of your interior. Not that big of a task however pretty much if you haven't done this stuff before set aside say 3-4 minimum. If you have done this type of stuff before then there is no reason why you can't get it done in 2 hours.

if you are going to pay someone to put them on, they'll do it. Just make sure they do it right.

It is possible to put any fog light for any vehicle on to any other vehicle, it just could cost a ton to make them look good.

buy foglights made for the car, or you have a project on your hands and it will never look as good.

Kevin, the kit Garm sells is pretty much plug and play. Read the DIY installation guide I linked and get a bag of zip ties. Zip ties are your best friend when working on cars. Zip ties are so useful that it should be a crime to sell them for so cheap.

I wanted to buy his the problem is we dont have communication quick enough so I just buy other shit.

I've never done electronics on a car myself, as for zip ties I got them all over the place.

EDIT:

Saw guide, dont have the balls to do it. Would send garm the money in the mail if we could get this done with already then I'd take the kit to the dealer but it just doesn't happen.

Those rectangle fog lights might look good if you cut a spot for them on your lower grill. That's the thing about universal fit items, you'll have to either mod the item or mod your car to make it fit.

Waiting a few weeks to get something that will work is probably better than getting something now and having to spend extra money to get it to work.

Since you aren't doing the work yourself, the cost of moding your bumper and installation of the light kit might be steep.

Though, sometimes it's better to just take the plunge and do things yourself. My Yaris is the only car that I've ever modded. I did the normal maintance, oil/filter/etc, on my other car but not to the extent of adding lowering springs, AFE intake, sway bar, medalion muffler.

(I got the AFE intake and Medalion Touring Muffler from YamilaR in a trade for my OEM springs and OEM muffler, thanks again!)

I do think that Fog Lights will be on my to-do list, after I get a Turbo Installed/running.

Go before Show right?

Was thinking of putting them in the lower grille - between the fog light slots at the far sides and just having the shop cut the plastic on it and place them in there which should lead to it fitting nice. And I rather pay for a sweet different job than do the dealers 1 grand offer for absolute boringness same old.

If I pay that much may aswell make use of it.

You mean the ultra white ones right>?

And anyone know if those gauges are installable aswell?

Yep, I got the 23mm Ultra Racing rear sway bar. As for the guages, they should be all work just fine.

That's what's so great about the Yaris, driver side glove(?) box is just begging to be used for guage installation.
