Pics Of My Cabin Air Filter

This nasty thing just came out of my VW after 1 year of use. I don't live, or drive this car on anything other then hard surface roads and generally maintain the car well. So, now it is evident why my Yaris is pretty dusty inside all the time. The pic with gunk would be air from the exterior and the other is the cabin side of filter.

BTW, when they are new they are white!

yes, and also get yourself some in-house air cleaner ( e.g. Oreck w/ Truman Cells)- then you will see how much shit you breathe in while home.......

Thanks Yamil, that's the same one I had come across in my search but it wasn't for the great price of $10. Oh well, I'll grab one soon enough.

Okay, stopped at Advance Auto Parts tonight and picked up a cabin air filter by Purolator #C38188. They had just one left in stock. Yes, 25% off now, so cost me under $10 with tax.

Took about 5 seconds to remove the glovebox. Another couple of seconds to realize I had to remove that long rectangular "door" by squeezing the pins at the left and right sides.

Then, with a little twisting, the filter slipped right in... a bit tight though, but sat flat. Relaced the door and the glovebox, and that was it!

Now, I can breathe. GET ONE!

Does your filter set in a mounting tray that slides in to the fan housing? The reason I ask is that my Purolator filter came with a instruction sheet that seems to indicate the tray?

Yup...there is a box/housing for the filter.
I believe yours came with that too...there is a long white rectangular door with squeeze pins on both ends. you'll see it as soon as you pop open your glove box door.
Hope this helps.

I guess they leave the filter support out since we don't have the filter. If you get a chance could you snag a part number of the support, please. I was able to squeeze the filter in and get it to lay nice and flat, but I would still like to make the instalation correct.

Here is what it looks like....cant really find the part number anywhere.
It does say ">PP - TD20< 144" inside the cover.
