Pretty shortsighted review...

Yaris less appealing now that gas is cheap again... so that will last forever?

Otherwise a decent review, guy's not impressed but at least he does not bash the car...

I love how it seems all of these reviews fail to mention the fact that the NZ engines are seriously some of the best engines ever mass produced by man. It sounds buzzy? Shoot, at 35 MPG it can sound like my coffee maker. Who cares?

What makes a sophomore student so qualified to review. No life experiance..... I consider the source. I wonder if he has an uncle who got him the job?

So it's a bad thing now that gas is cheaper, because you're saving less money?

I'd rather fluctuate between saving more or less than wasting more or less.

gas will go up again.. as soon as opec gets a hint of the economy starting to get back on the rise the gas wil go up.. its low because they are betting that the economy is going to get worse. I dont think with oil it has much to do with supply and demand.. they could keep the price of oil as high as they want and we're stuck paying it.

The price of oil has been lowerd to lull us to sleep. My prediction is that the price will back to $5 if not higher within 2-3 years. Other things are going to take center-stage enough so that the clean energy initiative will be forgotten once again, only for big oil to nail the lid on the coffin of many.

Meh, the Yaris isn't that great of a car to begin with. It's cheap and good on gas..

The only real reason I got one was I couldn't find a decent shape IS300 in my area. Not to say that I get into my car sigh and hate myself for it.

It's a great economical car in todays market place.

It in no way can or ever will compare to a luxury performance car and it shouldn't.

In all honesty, that's pretty much the reason why I got mine. If I would have had a few extra grand in the budget, I would have gotten something a little higher up.

I can easily afford a Mitsu Lancer, Mazda 3, VW Rabbit, Nissan Versa, Subie Outback, Honda Fit or Civic (all of which I've driven and considered), but I'm probably gonna go with the Yaris anyway. Why? I love its short wheelbase, light weight, simplicity, and all around zippiness/fun to drive factor. I love that its something out of the ordinary; not just another sedan on the road. I look forward to going some 400 miles on $18 worth of gas, and if it shoots back up, I'll be paying half of what everyone else is.

I'm coming from a 2001 BMW 3er, so I know what makes a quality car all around. The Yaris definitely shows some budgeting here and there, but it still drives great and the fit and finish of the interior doesn't horrify me by any means.

Oh yea, and unlike the Bimmer, the Yaris doesn't even register on the cock-o-meter :)

The Yaris is a novelty car to me... kind of like a Delorean or a Yugo. I could see it having that type of cult appeal way, way down the road. I'm hoping I'm right and I got in on the ground floor of something kind of viral.

You must have missed the last Top Gear. All the cocks are now driving Audi's and in fact Jeremy said you'd have to be a cock to not own the latest //m3 sedan

There is nothing "special" about the Yaris. It is a basic great car with great MPG. If I had an extra $30,000 I would have spent it on a fancier car.

But for me, the Yaris gets me from Point A to Point B at a very cheap mileage rate.

I do like the position of the drink holders, the input for my IPOD, and for a inexpensive vehicle the sound system is very good.

Go YARIS!!

(Strangely, the 5-door does not offer the manual transmission found in other Yaris versions, rare for an economy car. The manual lowers cost and fuel consumption and improves acceleration in other Yarises.)
Really?Thats a deal breaker in my book.
Does any one know if the Canadian version also only comes with the automatic/slushbox transmission?.
