hi comp piston question

Just curious, has anyone ran 11.5 to1 pistons on an other wise stock motor? If so were there any notable gains? Currently running a megan header and a custom intake and was wondering if higher compression pistons and a piggy back will make power worth the cost.

Just that and tuning? The gains probably don't justify the cost of the build + tuning. Just a guess.

The only thing I really have to pay for is the pistons and the piggy back, which is a huge help on this. I can have the car professionally tuned for nothing and the install I can do. The tuner actually suggested just doing an emanage ultimate because it was the only piggyback that allowed timing to be advanced. With it installed he could retune the car to run on premium and, inconjuction with the parts i have already ,possibly get gains that way.

too many other ways to make or free up power before going for that. Kind of extreme unless you were doing a full on race style build.

no gains will be noticeable on that considering a stock 1nz-fe is 10.5:1 so with only one margin of increase on compression without doing much else will just be a waste for your efforts. To increase compression without putting in good cams and valve train to support it is otherwise useless. You will be needing to increase RPM to get some gains which will require the CAMs and Valve train.

Thanks for the feed back everyone. Correct me if I am wrong, but JUN cams are our only choice for cams other than regrinds right?

That's correct. Never run regrinds, especially for daily use.
