Power Loss on Hills after 120k service???
Hi Guys
It's my first post here on Yariswold and I have been reading the forums since I got my car last year September. My car recently got it's 120K service (not by a Toyota dealership) and ever since, the car loses power uphills in 4th and 5th gear. A family friend that works on Toyotas say it may be the sparks or air filter. The actual person that did the service, wants the car to go for diagnostics? Any advice (besides getting it serviced at Toyota next time) ? |

Good point! When I bought my Yaris used, I found the PO had $1.19 Champion spark plugs installed. The car ran much better once I installed the correct plugs.

Going to 4th an 5th gear on a 120 k engine may not be ideal.

NGK are quality plugs, I use them in my racecar as well. (No, not just internet talk)
Have you thought about cleaning the throttle body or injectors? Are we talking 120k km or miles here? I'm assuming miles right now because mine's got 120k km on it and I can do anything as long as I keep the tacho close to 2k rpm. For long straightaways I can drop it down to 1700 or somethign therearound but if I need to climb something she's definitely happyer at 2k. |

Hi Rjay,
I'm referring to 120 000km service interval, where these problems started. I haven't cleaned the throttle body or injectors. |

You might want to try. How old are your ignition drivers?
... Ps. Mine's a 1.5 ts, but still, that shouldn't matter for reliability. Also: Hi! :) |
