my 2009 toyota yaris onyx smells like vinegar coming out the air vents. i found the tsb for an older model but nothing for the 09 or newer. does anybody have any suggestions? i'm not paying the dealer for this because it's not my fault at all. I'ts obvious that they have problems with this.

go to dealer and ask for wynns or moc AC system treatment. it'll be about 150 bux but will kill all the mold and mildew in the car/vents/box. the wynns is better, but takes way longer. the moc is easier to use but will only clean air box and vents.

or, put some stink-dope or potporie on your cabin filter...that'll make it smell better.

^Exactly - First question is have you been running with a cabin air filter? If not, then you have a nice science experiment growing in your airbox.

ha....yeah. i had no filter for the first year. started workin for bmw. we had extras when we used it so i started stockpiling. well, i just put the nozzle in the filter part and sprayed up and down....filled all the vents till it started spilling out the vents...

then i went to the store while all the ooz stuff was runnin everywhere and drying...car smelled great. and then i put in the filter...no problems since till recently (8 months later) when it's been humid and hot again. time for another ac service it looks like. or maybe i should check my drian holes

Hot humid climates don't help. Cabin filter works for me. Never an odor no matter how humid it gets here in the dessert.
