Yep, the Roger Johnson course design bible has been around since the early 90's. It's required reading for any serious course designer, and absolutely recommended reading for any driver who wants to get inside the head of a course designer and learn their "tricks".

False apexes and unevenly spaced slaloms are two of my favorite things.

my region needs to read the section about "unrewarding apexes for front wheel drive" and then apply it! I read that pdf a while back about where to put worker stations and how to set up a 'safe' course but I learned a lot about how to drive those difficult sections from it, good reading if you have a couple hours to kill :)
