Looks like something that would replace the CX-3, not slide in alongside it. I'm still not a fan of the thick cheap plastic body cladding trim automakers drape onto almost every Crossover or SUV. It looks tacky & it looks like faded crap after being out in the elements for a while. I also would rather see a real Mazda Mazda2 hatchback here in the U.S. than 1437 variations of Crossovers & SUVs. The auto market in the U.S. sucks balls if you aren't into those type of vehicles (or Trucks).

^Agreed! Is it April 1st already? Yeah...the engine technology is pretty cool, but design-wise it's a step backwards. Also, 'cx-30'? That's just going to confuse the consumer.

I don't like the name, but I love the tail lights and the clean and simple interior.

For whatever reason, the CX-3 sells pretty dismal in the U.S., so I'm not sure why Mazda would want to double-down with another small Crossover/SUV. Maybe they think the slightly larger size (since it is technically a 'CX-4' size vehicle) will be more appealing than the little Mazda2-sized CX-3 with the cartoonish 18" sized wheels. I agree that the CX-30 name is pretty stupid (& likely confusing to the average consumer), but I have never been a fan of Mazda's naming conventions here in this market. I really stopped caring about Mazda vehicles when they ditched support of their subcompact Mazda2 in the U.S. - even if that is the result of our homogenized consumer demand here in the U.S. for Crossovers/SUV/Trucks. Since I like smaller cars, they fell off my radar, especially now that their Mazda3 is basically the size of what a Honda Accord or Toyota Camry used to be.

If this new model fits between the CX-3 and CX-5, why isn't it a CX-4? Interesting.

When I first looked at the photos, I thought the sheet metal design was decent, but the more I look at the car, the more odd it appears. From some angles, the back end just looks too short. All Mazda hatchbacks have that weird visual. The new Mazda 3 is the worst!

The dash and steering wheel have a simple retro look, but that touch-screen display is certainly placed far forward. You'd need some pretty long arms to reach it! Maybe it's voice activated?

I like subcompact SUV's a lot; after all, they're just small hatchbacks that sit a little higher. But, this one doesn't interest me.

I read somewhere that the model name CX-4 is being used by Mazda in other markets (India I think) for a different vehicle, and they didn't want to overlap the name like that onto different vehicles.

Ironically, that other-market CX-4 looks better than either the CX-3 or CX-30 does. What a surprise.

^^^ Agreed. The CX-4 is a much better looking vehicle than the CX-3 and CX-5.

Not a fan of its looks but the interior is actually decent for me.
