Hood Holder fell off

My car was recently service for routine maintenance and the people I think what happened is they lifted the hood and it was still hinged in the position holding the hood open, and what ended up happening is the metal bar that swivels to the hood in the open position and down to the resting holder by the battery was handed to me. No one can figure out how this goes back in or where it goes. does anyone have a picture or know where in the online repair manual I can find this information, it looks like it something that snaps in somewhere.... Ron

Hood holder

Here is a photo of the bracket the person gave me, they originally did not know what it went to but I told them it was the hood holder, Im positive it is cause now its missing from the car. does this look right and if it is how does it go back in.. I have a feeling its bent but I understand how this girl could have bent it.

AH yeh right , to bend it like that would have caused damage to the bonnet as well , just put one of these on and you will be sweet.

"they didn't apply force" my butt.... where did you take the car for service? they owe you a hood prop(to be installed by toyota), and they might owe you a hood and a fender... the hood and fender are only if they were damaged...

It is bent. My 2007 Sedan's does not look anything like your photo.
Mine is almost straight except a few gentle bends near the ends.

Okay I figured someone was not being honest with me. does anyone have a part number on this by chance, and is there any part that I may need to inspect to see if any other service may be needed or is this a pretty user serviceable part? I see no other noticeable damage. under the hood but like I said I am not sure where the starting point is of the rod to see if something got damaged in that area.

I'd go back to where you had it serviced and raise hell until they fix it.. You shouldn't have to replace stuff that wasn't broken when you brought it in.

1NZYaris1, I like that hydraulic lift strut on your hood/bonnet. I want to add one of those to mine. Is that special part for the yaris? If not what do I need to know to find one?

Thanks

That is a seriously damaged hood prop. You can bet I would hold the whoever accountable for that. Pics with a price sheet from the dealer on parts and labor to fix plus a lawyer. Small claims here we come. Oh and hit them for the attorney fees.
