Mine went out yesterday with only 16K miles on it. I took my Yaris to the dealership twice and they assured me that there wasn't anything wrong. They will not to able to fix until Monday...

When i went to the dealership to replace my water pump for a second time. They told me that the manufacture actually tells them that if small seepage is visible from the pump this is considered normal. They are only to replace it if there is a large amount visible on the hood of the vehicle. Seems across the board for all their engines that are timing chain driven and have a external water pump they have issues. The older ones that are timing belt driven ive rarely ever seen fail. And that is over 100k miles when the timing belt is due for replacement anyways.

Replacing a water pump was easy, cause I just replace the broken water pump on my saturn. If your planning to do it your self, my advise is to look a DIY in youtube even its not a yaris, you will get an Idea on how.

After a week of being out of a car Toyota replaced the water pump and water pump belt. My Yaris only has 16k miles when it completely went out...

Our '08 goes in for head cylinder gasket replacement with less than 24,000 miles . The 2010 still has the same oil leak . Will take that , depending how the fix for the '08 goes . If not so well for the '08 sedan , will likely take the 2010 to another TOYO service center . Plan to take pics of the '08 inside , outside , and under the hood ( engine compartment ) in case any damage occurs . Have had some bad experiences in the past . Hope the the new pump works out for you . See there's a recall for the main computer for the '05 > '07 MATRIX , COROLLA , and VIBE (?)( Matrix ) . An acquintance has a '07 that died while driving , had to get the E.C.U. replaced under warranty . They also got a call by the TOYO service center where they purchased their '09 COROLLA to be brought back in again for a fix of the replacement gas pedal . AIN'T WHAT THEY USED TO BE . I believe there's other YARII out there with oil seeping from the #1 head gasket cylinder and aren't aware of it or don't give a crap . We're finished with buying TOYOTAs . Thinking of trading the 2010 for a MAZDA 2 , a 2010 SUZUKI SX-4 automatic ( C.V.T. ) all-wheel drive wagon or a 2010 FOCUS .

My yaris went back to the dealer after the leaking transmission got replaced three weeks ago, now its making a grinding noise on first gear the two master techs were able to hear this noise and decided to keep the car for inspection and probably to replace the tranny one more time. Im sure Toyota its not what it use to be and that sucks!

wow? what is going on with toyota? i have had hardly no issues with my car. dash got replaced under warranty (my fault it broke) and now my cv boot was leaking from a rip (that im almost sure i caused) and its getting fixed under warranty also. water pump from what i can see looks good and again from what i can see no head gasket leak under the hood.

my moms 01 camry has almost 300,000km on it and still original water pump

when i was getting my car i made sure mine was built in japan.....not a canadian or american yaris and i hope this pays off

(for anyone who wants to know if there yaris was built in japan check the VIN#, if it starts with "J" u have a good one)

Well, I can surely add to this list,

On about 31 000 the gearbox broke, the final dive and basiacly all the gears where cracked and in pieces, this happened with no warning,, no funny sounds nothing.
I replaced it my self as my car had a light accident on the driver door and Toyota refused
to help.

And about 3 months ago the motor dropped 2 exhaust valves on Cyl no. 3 and and I have replaced the motor.

Services gets done on every 10 000 Km as I do these my self, I use Magnatec Castoll,
everything else from Toyta Parts. and the motor gave in on 71432Km

Once again, it broke with no warning, I was in middle of 1st gear about 20Km\h and it broked.....

I love Toyota! but if this keeps hapening I will not buy another toyota again!!!!!!

No issues with water Pumps or Electical issues at all either.... ever

" I HATE having the stealership techs screw up my car or scratch it up "

+ 1 , we know your concerns . Imagine how we felt with getting the head gasket replaced for the 2008 and still needing to get the 2010 head gasket done . When they brought the 2008 out to be picked up after the fix we gave it a good lookover , I found the cowl was loose and they didn't tighten the bolt that holds the underside plastic engine guards in place . They brought it back in and had it fixed in 10 minutes . Luckily I knew what to look for , many others probably wouldn't . The REPAIR MANUAL provided in the D.I.Y. forum helped with that . I give THANKS to whoever provided it . What I didn't notice since it was dark was that they badly scuffed the plastic engine cover by tossing it on the shop floor . Then about a week later I decided to look for any oil leaking and discovered the oil filter was loose enough to leak oil and easily spin it off by hand . Then I took a look at the air filter since they remove the housing and hose during the fix and found the air filter was covered with grease and dirt as if placed on a dirty work bench or tossed to the floor . I installed the new air filter in APRIL . We wonder what may be lurking within the engine itself after the fix . We're trying to get TOYOTA to give us a 7 yr. / 100,00 mile extended warranty for free in case there's a problem with the repair further down the road . Best of luck wth your repair .
