sluggish throttle response + malfunction light on!!?
what could this be...its done uk miles 90k i had the chain replaced last year at 60k and the noise coming form the bonnet seems to state that either the chain is running loose..or i really dont know..could anyone suggest anything without me getting the codes what it could be.. example of my problem. before the light came up.. the clutch is released ..and the response from the throttle seems sluggish to say the least..and that is the key thing i have noticed of late.. the model i have is a 1 ltr 2006 model manual |

1. who replaced the chain? dealer or other? was it a toyota branded chain? and more importantly, WHY did you replace the chain at 60k?
2. get the code. we can't guess what codes you have, why don't you tell us what you have? 3. if the chain is running loose, it's because the tensioner is malfunctioning. you should have the timing cover pulled off by a REPUTABLE shop and check to see that the tensioner was properly reinstalled. get the codes, don't waste your time and ours with theories.

so how much does it cost to get the codes...the reason im being simple is cos its just come on now..and im an absolute amateur at best when maintaining cars..so i hope you dont take offence to my questioning..thats the reason i joined the site to try and save myself some cash...the reason i had the chain replaced was cos gent whom replaced my chain had worked for toyota ..and said it was teh chain that needed replacing due to the tickety tick noise....but now that noise seems to have returned..and so there fore wa wondering if the chain is loose..so anymore suggestions are welcome..conard

Timing chain should really never have to be serviced...Unless there is a noise or it stretches and causes a timing issue.

British mileage is measured in kilometers and i'm sure the op is reading 60K kilometers and not miles, without doing the math i'd say the op has about 38k miles on the car. |
