Oh...

If you want that tooter shirt,
you have to take what's in it.

I put the engine cover back on so that it would look more complete...

There are no studs on the tooter for the two front retaining nuts, so I installed some short bolts from the back to hold them so that they would fill up the holes.

I'd so leave the engine cover off. I like a raw engine so much better. I hate the look of all the newer cars that have the covers that hide the most important part of the car.

on top of that, you have something to show off...

The only problem with leaving the cover off is that tangled mess of wires that it hides. Later on if I can figure out a way to make the wires neater, I might leave the cover off. I also have some perforated stainless steel sheeting, and might try a home made cover out of that.

I drove the car again today and am so totally pleased at how well it's working. The T shirt gets sucked clean with the shop vac after each use as it's obviously not the best air filter in the world.

What did you use to polish it? And do you have a pic of how it turned out, I'd like to see what it looks like.

I keep my cover on. Its easier to wipe clean then inside the coilpack channel on the valve cover.

I'll take a fresh one for you.

I cut the nubs for the cover off and sanded it smooth to get all the casting marks out. Then wet sanded with 1000. Then polished by hand and a rag with aluminum polish. I didn't do in the coil area because it just too hard to get and am actually thinking about painting that area flat black because it does get dirty.
