You don't have to worry, Malibu... they won't spoil.

I think my next project will be to develop an intake manifold spacer for our Yaris'. The truck spacers work really neato.

Hey, could you do me a big favor? I don't have any stock intake manifolds any more, so could you measure exactly how much clear space you have between the front of your stock intake manifold and the first thing it would touch if it was moved straight out from the head towards the front of your car? That will help me to determine how thick of a spacer I can make.

The thicker they are the better they work.

2 7/8" from runner #4 to the fan shroud spoke on my sedan.

Hey, thanks guys!

That's great news... and means that a two inch spacer will work. The coiled stock intake runners are about 20 inches long if I recall correctly, so it would mean 10% longer runners. That's enough to make a noticeable difference.

Yes. Machining two inch deep aluminum caused tool issues. so they'll be made out of the same same nylon that the Yaris intake manifolds are made out of.

The spacer also straightens the flow before it enters the head...





My work truck is always loaded with about 600-800 pounds of material and tools, and I'm constantly crawling up and down steep roads in first gear so the spacer really helps in these off idle/very low rpm situations. Feels like you're driving a tractor. It'll be interesting to find out how it will work on our Yaris'. When it's made, I'll do dyno runs and we'll see what happens.

Try making one to run on a tooter as well...I dunno how much more room you can move the 'rolla intake out...but it may make magic or become a new doorstop...

A spacer will fit either manifold flange it's just a mater of clearance.

No can do...
The tooter's snaking runners already take up most of the front space. It's longer runners are already the equivalent of about a one inch spacer.

The Yaris spacer project will be a ways off just yet as I'm still focused on getting the Tacoma spacers produced and marketed, but it's definitely an intriguing idea worth pursuing.

I already know how well the principle of longer intake runners works on my truck because I'm driving it every day, so I'm sure that it will make a difference on the Yaris. What I don't know is exactly how much difference it will make...

...so that's what we'll find out.

Can't wait to get started on it. I need to get the production run of tooter II.VII spacers finished first because there's already a list of people waiting to buy them. After the first run is completed I should be able to start on the Yaris spacer.

thats awesome. Congrats man. Been following this since day 1. I feel bad for those who are trying to read thru all 80 pages of this thread HAHA.

I know its still in production but whats a ballpark cost are we looking at for the intake mani spacer? Also, will you also provide extended studs or bolts or just give a part number to purchase on our own?

There's a reason for putting everything into just one thread. It keeps this stuff from being spread all over the forum. That would be inappropriate. This way, none of the other threads get interfered with.

So far it's still only a concept. A prototype hasn't been designed or made, so there hasn't been any dyno testing to determine whether or not it's even worth producing. If it is made, it'll come as a complete kit including proper length studs, flange nuts, and a stock O ring gasket.

From how the R & D and production costs of the truck spacer have been piling up, it will likely be around $250.

I discovered that stainless steel bead blasting aluminum creates a " micro shot peened" surface that polishes up really easy!



To get that lustrous finish in no time at all, I just hit the runners with some #400 sandpaper and then a little rubbing compound on a rag like polishing a silver spoon.

There's also been a recent price adjustment. They're now $595 for the manifold and $295 for the kit.

Micro Image forums, online store and shop are now closed. It was a great eight year run, but it was time to focus on other things. I'm still selling parts on eBay under micro*image seller ID and customers can still make requests for anything specific.

I started the manifolds really low at $450 and then gradually raised them so that I could come up to what the market would bear. Two have sold at $595, the last one from someone who saw my tooter YouTubes.

The internet is an amazing blessing...
It has allowed me as just one person to be able to personally control the total pipeline from concept, to design, to prototype, to testing, to manufacturing, to promotion, and to sales.

I don't have to answer to anyone else except the people who buy my products. The tooters are a very small market, and that was a good place to learn the process. The market for the tooter II.VII spacers is much larger, but I'm now more familiar with the process. On the Tacoma spacers, I was able to go from virtual concept to the reality of actual production for sales in just three months. This is because there are no third parties involved. I make all of the decisions myself, and I fund everything myself, and hire the good honest people who make it happen.
