Moving the battery to improve handling is very common.....almost all street rods place them in the back and on MR2's they're moved to the front. Excellant idea for a Yaris....battery and can of flat fix in back, then you're able to modify and install the exhaust in the center of the rear for looks!

Usually a well mounted battery box to contain any spills (or a gell battery) and some long lengths of welding cable!!!!

Kaboom anyone?

People have been relocating their batteries to the trunk for many years now. It is not a new trick, and if done properly it poses no safety hazards. I have owned several cars with batteries in the trunk for several years.

And since the Yaris is small I take it that it'll be somewhat easy to relocate it?

Small doesn't necessarily mean easy....routing the cables so there's no rubbing that could cause a short is a primary concern. The spare tire well is fairly big so that should be easy mounting the battery.

DIY thread cleaned up without remaking brackets (too busy). I placed it in the DIY category rather than the 'cosmetic'..........................
