TS/Xd Long Tube Header & Intake dyno results - Toyota Yaris Forums

Here are the dyno results of the new long-tube header for the 1.8L Taris TS and Scion Xd (possibly other apps as well). Equipped with just a home-made air intake, the otherwise stock Xd produced 123 wheel hp and 121 ft-lb of torque. Equipped with the long-tube headers and 2.5-inch mid pipe (2.25 would work equally well) and no axle back, the motor produced 134 wheel hp and 134 ft-lb of torque. At just 3000 rpm, the header and mid pipe offered an additional 15 ft-lb of torque. Next we installed the prototype of the Xd intake manifold. The peak power numbers jumped to 148 hp and 137 ft-lb of torque. At 6000 rpm, the intake offered gains of 16 hp. It appears from this testing that if we add an NST u-pulley and receive the same results as we did on the 1.5L Yaris motor, the 1.8L can produce a real 150 wheel hp (possibly more if it reponds favorably to the FIC). Can someone (Castrex) post this over on the Scion site as well-I can't seem to get the images attached. BTW-We already made 151 wheel hp with a version of the intake that won't be offered for sale-it adds a bit more peak power but sacrafices too much elsewhere)

very nice numbers.. this proves that the new dual VVTi is severely under-rated from the factory (stock numbers) or your dyno is not properly calibrated.. i hope it's the first and not the second..

Well he is comparing against base line runs done on the same dyno. So you can look at it as a % gain.

Stock car 119whp

+ custom CAI 123 whp

+ LT header + Int Mani + Mid pipe 148 whp

We are talking about a 24% increase.

I hope that in a few years we will be able to swap heads with the new 2ZR-FAE (Same engine but with valvematic)

This engine puts 15 additional hp over our version with no Lift.

I see this as the future swap engine of choice for the US Yaris as the work to be done should be minimal.

Not to forget the new 6speed MT (C67 tranny) that it's been offered for the 2009 1.8L and 1.33L Yaris

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel....

This is a great HP gain.
I drive with the stock 1.8 engine and I have already problems, on bad and wet roads, to get the power on the street. Often I have a intervention of the tractioncontrol.

How will that be with all that power?

Well as you can see from the graphs... most of the power is coming after 4,000rpm.

I don't see why would you be driving at more that 4,000rpm on a slippery / wet road.

That is of course if you are not me...

We have 8-9 months of rain a year over here... and I just loved to push the car under the rain...
If you do it safely driving on such conditions can teach you a lot about the dynamics of your car.

Oke. I had not looked by witch revs the power was released.

(I now the dynamics of the Yaris very well)

Sometimes I even disengage the Trac Control / VSC and the ABS from my car.

that is some funny stuff!

Is hard to learn how to control the car with all the electronic gadgets.

But for every day driving conditions, Trac Control / VSC / ABS are the best of the best!!!

Safety wise Toyota did a great job on this little car.

You can switch off the TRC and VCS without remove the fuse. The ABS is then still working.
It's a trick I've learnt from Yaris Palme, a gadget stock built in by Toyota.

Great!!!

I used to just pull out the VSC/TRAC fuse out. But the downside of this was that by doing that I lost the ABS too which I didn't like.

Now I can disable it with out loosing the ABS...

Have to be careful tough... I was kind of getting used to the vsc keeping things under control on fast corners...
