Also, the pics look like it is during the day. Someone probably could have run him to the dealership.

that's true, the car is under warranty, so replacing the engine after 12-24 hours of running would be free anyway.

friends were either at work, or not within a 60 mile vicinity. could have called a cab for 40 bucks(oneway) to the dealer - would have been worth it compared to the damage.

Letting it run for that long and out of gas is not going to kill your engine.

It's a Toyota, give it a little more credit than that.

I'm trying to be a dick, just saying what I think could have saved your car.

Why don't you just say it was broken into and have the ins. Cover it that is if its more than the deductible. And Jill you did not just see me type that.

I HAVE run cars all day working at car shows when I worked for Saturn Motor Sports. They took it and were fine and they were shitty Saturn's. If they could take it, over a whole weekend long show, then your Yaris could have for as long as it would have taken to get to a dealership.

Did you read what i said?? I have let multiple cars sit and run for over 12 hours and there was nothing wrong with them. There is no need to do any experiment. Your just pissed off cause you should have gone to the dealership and had a new key cut instead scratching the hell out of your car. Taking a cab there and getting a new key would have still been cheaper than the repair work needed to the body of your car.

I've seen damage done to vehicles by letting them idle for hours on end and from doing motor routes with stop and go driving in the past . THE END
