So the air intake really does improve horsepower and torque on this car by a lot.

I always notice that if you hit the gas to hard, you hear the air intake try to suck air in, so I know for a fact the stock air intake is restricting the car to no end.

I think the better "breathing" is definitely the biggest helper to HP on this car. The noise factor ofa CAI is nto only due to the free-flowing qualities, but also because the stock airbox is designed to cancel the sound waves from the TB, thus making it quieter.

same w/ the exhaust....1.75" piping and restrictive muffler

but this is all true of most cars from the factory...

Is it possible to get a better exhaust without it being a fart can?

might technically be a GM Performance Parts supercharger ;)

vibe = matrix with different body work, if you didn't know

iirc, the vibe is auto, has intake, ppe long tube header, and exhaust, running the TRD ecu from the s/c kit and puts down about 165whp and 155wtq-ish

the s/c'd matrix ran 168whp and 157tq with intake, magnaflow catback and emanage tune - - its a 5speed

s/c'd matrix xrs ran 231whp and 152wtq
