Motor Mount Bad. OK To Ignore?

The mount on the top right of my wife's 05 Camry is worn out and they want $165 to change it.

Moneys tight can we let it go? Or will it cause damage to do that?

Thanks!

I'm assuing your talking about the passenger side mount?

$165 seems reasonable, it's not very hard of a job though.

It depends on how badly worn it is. Since the yaris only had 3 mounts it tends to be more important to replace them then in a 4 mount engine. For the most part you'll just have excessive noise in shifting for a while. I'm not sure if that mount can completely let go of the rubber falls apart, I can't remember off hand. But I'd replace it within the next few months if it is badly worn.

It's possible that it can damage the flex joints on the exhaust, and it will definitely accelerate the wear on the other mounts. Could you be more specific with the engine/trans/trim info so I can look up the parts?

Looks like the OEM is $75. Aftermarket is probably cheaper still. http://parts.villagetoyota.com/produ...23630H050.html

No idea how hard it is to change. Could be a pain that involves moving lots of other stuff, could just be a few bolts. Your call, I guess. =)

Yes I've seen videos and it looks straight forward.

Aftermarket is $15 and customers give it four stars.

I ll do the work myself and report back!

Changed the mount today in 5 minutes. Didnt have to jack the motor as this mount in a Camry controls horizontal movement not vertical. Wife says the car is quieter. Toyota wanted $200. I did it for $15.

Not sure it was really necessary as a ut video shows before and after movement of the engine and it looks the same! But as u can c the mount is shot.

This doesnt really apply to Yari was theres no horizontal mount in that engine.

Good news!

*There is a horizontal mount, it's under the engine/trans to the subframe. The larger cars often use 4 mounts instead of 3. =)
