DIY Service
Hello...
I have a 2006 T3 Spirit Yaris hatch and i want to know what restricts me from servicing my own car. It's out of warranty and service plan. Does the computer need to be checked or is a normal service good enough (plugs, oil, filters)?? Thanx! |

As far as I understand... I don't think anything should prevent you from working on your car... Although I'm not too sure of your local laws, your typical jobs(coolant flush and refill, oil change, air filters, belt replacement, spark plugs, etc.) Are all really easy to do, that's one of the things I love about these cars, they're pretty easy to work on!
As for your computer, you'll usually get a "check engine" light when something is amiss. Good luck! |

Do you mean tuning your air/fuel ratio and spark maps? From what I've heard, a peformance tune hasnt been achieved yet... But maybe one of the guys/girls on this board could clear that up for me.

when a problem comes up under engine warranty they'll look into oil service intervals. so when you change your oil you'll need to reset the light...that's it.
otherwise, basic maintenance can be done by owner, and does not have to be carried out by dealership. keep receipts and write in your owners manual the mileage and type of oil you used. CYA is all i gotta say. |

Maintenance required(oil light)indicator is just a oil change reminder.
It comes on every 5 thousand miles between it being reseted between oil changes. You can find the remedy to turn that light off. You can do a lot on these cars by yourself. Goodluck!
