High Flow Catalytic Converter

Has anyone installed one? If so, what kind and did it improve any performance, like mpg :D ?

I want to install the set-up like Marcus with his magnaflow... they sound nice and its not too loud... I like to have a nice smooth exhuast... :D

i have one. it's a magnaflow 2.25" hi flow cat. 12" long. used it to quiet down my header back exhaust, and it did. however, i only have the hiflow cat and a 18" resonator. can't help ya with any info for the mpg department.

you should look into random tech cat's. it's a pipe...that catalyzes the exhaust. its just like a straight pipe, only emissions legal.

I thought changing the cat converter was illegal. Is there any way to do it legally or does it even matter?

each state varies.

it's illegal to remove a cat from your vehicle, but if you replace it with another cat you may be in the clear. if your state does not do emissions testing then you're definitely in the clear. i'm running a magnaflow spun cat as well.

In Hawaii, Not having a cat is Illegal. Replacing it is not. WE don't have Emission testing though...

High flow Cat > OEM Cat

main thing is being able to be legal when it comes to state testing...and doing your part in being more green.

If you want more horses, go straight pipe to muffler. BUT you will no longer pass any state inspections or testing, and you can get popped my local law enforcement if they check to see if you have done a cat delete.

High flow cat isnt really even a cat its just a strait pipe that has catalist around the inside it maybe has 5-10 percent of catalist that a normal cat would have. Also is not smog legal anywhere.

No one said if they had or even noticed any power increase. Or even if it maybe just helped the engine rev up a little quicker.

Well, Maine has no smog testing or emissions test at all, so that would be sweet for custom

you guys are also installing 2.25" pipes on these cars? But isn't 2.25" a little too big? Whats the stock diameter of the exhaust pipes?

Sorry but putting something in that has lower catalist efficiency and less catalist will not magically make the emissions out of the tail pipe cleaner.

Its called the law of common sense. Now if its on a car that has already extremely clean emsisions and you delete the cat you may not see much change in emissions but definately wont see a improvement.
