16 inch or 17 inch rims?

I'm debating on getting either 17 inch rims or 16 inch rims for my yaris sedan. I plan on lowering my car as much as possible with fully adjustable suspension without having to roll my fenders, I also like the car slammed. Which Tim size would look better? Idk if 16 in will look too small on the sedan or not. Any suggestions?

17s look better in my opinion, but since that is what I have on my hatch, I may be a bit biased!

Since you have a sedan...

16's

17's

16's

17's

Since the 16's were a 6 spoke design, here's 17's with a 6 spoke design

With that said, if you want looks, go with 17's.

Thanks, and you're welcome.

Yeah, with +25 offset, even on a 7" wide rim, you'll have to roll your fenders to prevent any rubbing as you may get some on freeway dips or if you have passengers in the car. You'll definitely get rubbing in the front, and the "maybe" is for the rear.

Excellent.

For reference, 17x8, effective offset of +32 (rims are +47, have a 10mm hub spacer, and 5mm wheel spacer).

My fenders are semi rolled, tires are 205/40/17 for a mild stretch, and I don't have any rubbing problems...then again, I do have spring coil spacers in the rear to prevent full spring compression and increasing my ride height .25". lol.

Damn, that looks proper. I was debating if I wanted to roll my fenders or not but whatever I'm just gonna do it. What suspension do you recommend? I've been debating on tein or Meghan racing.

I can't wait to move to NorCal ! I see there's some nice cars ;)

How low are you planning on going? If you want to go low(er), go with the Megan coilovers since the Tein coilovers don't really drop the car that low. If you're just going with springs, the Tein S.Tech's (which I'm on), are your best bet. I believe the Kido coilovers also go lower than the Tein coilvoers.

NorCal has some nice cars...but also has its share of not so tastefully modded cars.

I have SSR type F's in a 16x7 +42 offset. They look pretty big on such a little car, I couldn't imagine having 17's.
17's will also be heavier and tires will be slightly more expensive.
In my opinion, 16's are the perfect size for our cars.

17's won't necessarily be heavier. There are some 17's out there that weigh 13 lbs, and some 16's out there weigh over 20 lbs. Now, 17's have a farther rotational mass than 17's, but then you'd have to factor in tire weight as well.

The face design also plays a role in how the wheel will look. My 17" Enkei OR52's had thin spokes, leaving a lot of space between the 6 spokes. This made the wheels look rather large compared to my other 17's.

It also depends on the intent of the rims. Will they be purely show, purely go, or a little bit of both? imo, 17's for show, 15's for go, and 16's for a little bit of both worlds.

I go back and forth between the two. 17s look good but sometimes too big. 16s look real good and allow you to slam it and typically help acceleration but sometimes look too small. It's all about experimenting and finding what you personally like. Currently I am going back to 16s for my bbs rs's and going super slammed and even more poke than my 17x10s. Lets see how this comes out lol
