Also in the Toyota Family. The 1986 Toyota MR2, not only cool but fun to drive. Actually heavier than the Yaris and not really any faster. Boy I miss it.

MR2's were neat; they handled like race cars!

I worked for a Mazda dealership way back when and bought a 1991 MR2 trade-in. It only had 9500 miles on it and was in showroom condition. When I saw it, I had to have it. Fortunately, the manager (a friend) sold it to me for exactly what he paid... a steal!

I kept that car in the garage and only drove it on weekends. Strange thing though, I could never figure out why the battery constantly discharged. Even the Toyota dealership couldn't diagnose the problem and just kept replacing the battery. It discharged quickly when it simply sat in the garage. I used to have to disconnect the battery after garaging, and then reconnect before driving. Got to be a PITA, so I sold it after a couple of years ownership for more than I originally paid. It had less than 13000 miles on the clock.

Didn't do much to that car, except the exhaust system and JDM wheels: 16x7, 205/50's and 16x8's 245/45's. The car looked great and was quick.

Not so interesting; 2000 GS400. 4.0 V8 1UZ-FE VVT-i. Gobs of power and torque with Toyota reliability.

What made it interesting; Automatics are boring, so I mated a Supra R154 5 Speed Manual to the engine. This definitely woke up the V8, she was a blast at the track with throttle oversteer easily executed, and the long wheel base kept her in line without spinning out. Do miss this car. If I had to do it again however, JZ power all the way.

Thanks! I've been on the fence about picking up a GS300 this time around, we'll see. It'll sure piss off the wife lol.

I still have this one.. '00 Miata SE. '01 header, K&N Typhoon w/ homemade coolbox, 14" BBS w/ Dunlop star specs, RoadsterSport3 axleback, and Katzkin leather. Maybe not that interesting, but this car makes me smile like no other I've owned.

Found this old picture of me and my favorite car I’ve ever owned, a 1986 Mazda RX-7. I was part of a club and we went on a drive out to Alpine, CA.

Nice! Long ago, when I worked for Mazda, I had a 1991 RX7 convertible company car for the better part of a year. Must say, I enjoyed driving that car... and looking at it.

Awesome! What color? I always liked the black convertibles. I thought about getting another one as a fun car, while they are still so cheap. They really have personality, which a lot of other cars don’t. I used to wake the neighbors in the morning with my exhaust but it sounded so sweet in the high revs, it was intoxicating.

Blue with black top and blue leather interior; a very handsome car. If I recall correctly, the 91 RX7 came fully equipped and was priced around $25K. I remember the headrests had speakers, which made listening to the radio possible in a convertible.
