after the swap, the gauge backlight, pointers(tach+speedo) is not working..Rest of the functions is working.

Below my observation:

My wiring harness is not the same. The canadian cluster has the illumination control and GCC/EU model don't have. To fix this, You have to swap/jumper or rig the illumination pinout of the new cluster.

I put it back my original cluster as I am annoyed without the illumination/backlight. Everything works fine. From here, I noticed also that they have different programming cluster daughter board. Tried to swap their daughter boards also but the results is more bad(none of the pointers is working).

So, I've been searching all these Tach Cluster threads and still have not been able to verify if I can put a tach cluster in my '08 3dr HB MT US base model. If it is possible does anyone have an idea of which clusters will work without issue?

I was thinking of trying a cluster from an '08 US HB auto trans model.

We need to make a chart showing what will work with what.

For USDM ones, the key is getting one with ABS if your car has it and without if it doesn't. In some cases the opposite will still work, but you are always safe if you match for ABS.

Thread revival time!

I've been plowing though as many threads as I can, but I still can't find the part number for a USDM cluster w/tach and ABS. I've found some part numbers on villagetoyotaparts.com and toyoDIY, but the descriptions are either absent, or not helpful.

Here's what I've found so far at villagetoyotaparts.com for a 2010 USDM 3DR MT:

83800-52L30 - speedo only (2010 hatch, ebay listing)
83800-52L40 - ???
83800-52N61 - speedo only (2009 hatch, ebay listing)
83800-52N71 - w/tach and ABS
83800-52P01 - ???
83800-52X00 - ???

Could someone with a USDM hatch with tach pull their cluster and verify the part number?

*edit*

Ok, after more poking around at toyotapartszone.com, I found about a dozen part numbers for the 09 North American hatch. Sadly, they either say "Mexico spec" or "not available". The descriptions seem to be a bit better, but having a description for a part that doesn't exist anymore is pretty useless. =/

For an 09+ with ABS and the Tach: 83800-52N71

I know this Thread is almost 4yrs old... Don't Shoot Me!
On the 09+ LB w/abs WITH TACH, does it matter?, or which Part # is correct for 5-Speed and which for AT?

09 S Cluster needs to be matched with car with abs or the mph needle wont move.

S cluster doesnt matter Auto or Manual.

Harness is the same, its simple plug and play.

With US ones ALL come WITH ABS. The speedometer issue is only when using a JDM cluster on a non ABS US car. If you use a U.S. ABS one on a non ABS car the ABS and brake lights will always be on. You can disable those lights to make it usable.

I read this whole thread, is there an end all answer for this?
I'm reading "discon the battery first and it'll work" then "that doesn't work" then "the dealer can do it" then "the dealer can't do it"

What's the actual answer here??
I'd sure love to have a tach, on the cluster on my 08 manual...

The final and definite answer is it can only be done by someone with specialized equipment to reflash the EEPROM on the module. It can't be done by disconnecting the battery and it can't be done by the dealer. I have the equipment and offer the service, if you track one down.

CT, I'm thinking about doing the swap to the type S to get the tach. If I did this what would flashing the mileage include? I.e. do I need to send it to you with my old cluster or something and how much would you want?

You would just have to send me the new one (and shoot me a pic of your current one with its current mileage). I charge $40 + return shipping to reprogram them.
