^^^ Triumph Spitfire was a cool little sport car! My friend put a GT6+ motor in his Spitfire. It was a little rocket with great English character. Of course, that was all we knew back then. He later bought a Triumph TR6 which was a very handsome convertible with really big wheels and tyres for that era.

I remember the TR6 the frog eye as it was known...beautiful car sadly the TR7 although very nice but was prone to flipping if the wind got under her nose.

Interesting point, you can still get the Triumph body shells made by British heritage .I worked for Mayflower vehicle systems in Coventry many years back and saw then quite regularly come through for paint treatment ,saw many proto type cars in my time there

I owned a 1963 XKE 4.2 a long time ago. Exactly like this photo I found online: silver, red leather, black top. I discovered it in an underground car park with a tarp over it. Some rust, motor that burned oil, and in need of an exhaust system. My girl friend's father was a Jaguar hobbyist. He helped me completely restored the car and swapped me a freshly rebuilt 3.8 for the 4.2. What did I care when I was a kid? Car turned out nicely and was a real eye-catcher.

^^^ LOL. I've owned more English cars than I can remember. So many fond memories of the smell of leather, smoldering electrical systems, and leaking oil. Fun to drive and equally fun to work on... a lot.

The last English car I owned was a full-race 1071cc Cooper S. Looked like this photo. Same colour, same wheel flares. Very fast little track car. Towed that thing all over Quebec and Ontario (Canada).

This was my first Japanese car. 1973 Datsun 240Z. Not the actual photo below, but same model and colour (Cocoa Brown). Spent all my money doing the motor, exhaust system, suspension, alloy wheels and tyres. I loved that car.

Sold it to my best friend when I went back to school full-time and thought I should get a more practical car... this 1978 Datsun 510 hatchback.
