Best spot for GPS

Just got myself a GPS, wondering with our centre-dash and small windshield, what would be the best spot to mount a GPS? I tried the driver side, but I kinda find it obstructing. Maybe I have to be used to it.

I suggest the center dash slightly offset to the right side so it doesn't obstruct your view of the speedometer/tach.

Someone mounted his GPS on the driver side cup holder. Neat, but it takes your eyes way off the road!
I feel more comfortable with the center dash mounting position.

I have been contemplating putting that little mounting plate that comes with the Garmin Nuvis just above the glovebox behind the steering wheel. I tried the windshield and the reach is just too dang far!

Cheers! M2

I put mine in center, but I usually have mine displaying the speed & other info, so blockage of the speedo is not important.

I found mine good in the bottom left corner of the windsheild. The sedans dash drops away so the GPS barely blocks any windshield view. Only problem is the cord. The sedans outlet is in the center console behind the parking brake lever so cord routing is a pain.
I've considered mounting it above the steering column. View it through the top of the wheel and the cord could be tucked into the crevices of the dash and center console.
The sedan does not have the drivers side glove box so I wouldn't have an obstruction issue there.

The mount on my Roadmate 300 is about 2 inch diameter and I had it mounted onto the class covering for the centre instrument display. It covered-up the trip meter, but if you leaned forward, you'd still be able to see the trip display. In my opinion, it's the best location since there's no obstruction on the windshield glass and the unit is easy to access while on the go.

I mounted mine here. Works pretty well. Very convenient to see and touch as well as close to the stupidly only one cigerete lighter port.

+1 In California it's illegal to put anything on the windshield. I vent-mounted by Sirius and can easily share the RCA jack when I use the Nuvi as an MP3 player.

Thanks. The wires are hidden too. (well, most of it) I'm working on putting a new socket in for the power that will also be hidden. I didn't think I would use this GPS but now, I never go anywhere without it!

No powercord, is not necessary. Battery is good for 5 á 6 hours. I charge him in house and not in the car.

If battery is still empty while I'm driving I put the powercord over the steering column to the lighter plug.
