Tanabe front strut tower brace or Ultra Racing strut tower brace? - Toyota Yaris Forums

Hi all,

I accidentally ordered the Ultra Racing strut tower brace instead of the Tanabe front strut tower brace and I'm now debating whether to keep it or return it in exchange for the Tanabe front strut tower brace. Which one is better as far as handling performance?

I believe the Tanabe is adjustable and the Ultra is not. How useful this is to the average daily driver would be a question for the more knowledgeable tuners on this site.

Tanabe IS adjustable that's what I have under the hood but I have the UR SWAY bar as well

Looks like the Tenabe is winning as it was my first choice. I ordered the UR by mistake! Just wanted to see what the rest of the Yarisgans are using before I return the UR.

I think it's just which design you like the most! but on the other hand I would say non-adjustable is stiffer (ultra-racing)!

I don't think they make them for the Yaris, but I have a TRD 3 point non-adjustable bar in my HB. There's nowhere for the bar to move once it's bolted in place.

So I vote whatever is non-adjustable.

The strut tower bar does virtually nothing in the Yaris, since the strut towers are already attached to the firewall, and the struts are a single-bolt design, which means your aftermarket bar isn't actually attached to the struts themselves. Your struts can still flex inside the tower (remember the LARGE rubber bushings on top of your suspension?) with or without the strut bar.

They do look cool, and add some weight to your car. :)

Same goes for the rear ones that bolt to the top of the shocks.

except that at the track under hard driving conditions, the bar makes a difference. I have taken it on and off at the same track day, and experienced this first hand.

Common sense comes best from real experience. Right?

I have not experienced any difference with the rear brace, though -- testing it in exactly the same way.

i have the UR one thanks so much from Brian, but i still havent gotten the chance to install it. Seems like sound a pain to get my hand to where it needs to be, wheel liner needs to come off if thats the right thing to call it.

^ yes, you have to get your hand up in there so you can tighten the nut. But you'll only have to do it once.
