Just want some clarification
To remove the timing chain cover or oil pump (the oil pump is built into the timing chain cover) you need to remove the valve cover but certainly not the head. If you're getting a leak from the timing chain cover area it could also be the crankshaft seal.

Hey

The mechanic that I took it to at a small shop said that it doesn't need to be resealed right now since is a very small seep I pointed out to him that it was shocking across the middle of the engine and he mentioned that oil travels everywhere but he did also mention that if it was his car he wouldn't resealed because it such a pain in the ass and considering the car mileage to just let it be and top off as needed but is crazy tho why would Toyota use that sealer instead of the black one which is better because you can see atleast in my case coming out of that gray rtv and spreading lol

I can't hate on the Yaris tho is been pretty reliable besides the p0012 code I got which Toyota insisted it was the camshaft gear thank god it was just the ocv, cheap to run reliable has never let me stranded when I replaced the valve cover gasket that's motor was sooooo clean fine little engines

Question

If anybody can help I will appreciate it now if me and by buddy who is a mechanic where to attemp to reseal the timing cover what would you guys recommend? Replace some components in there? And could I reuse the timing cover or just buy a new one? Also I understand is a pretty long job, does the head come out of just the upper part of the engine? And how long does it take for the sealer to dry?
