What did you drive before your '12 Yaris?

What did you have before the '12 Yaris? Why did you get rid of it? And while we are on the topic...what other automotive toys do you have?

We don't have our Yaris yet. 1 month down and 3 to go until our 5-speed Blazing Blue Pearl SE gets here. It will be my wife's new car.

She currently drives this:

2007 Rabbit. Purchased it new and paid it off last year. Just at 91k on the odometer and it has been a great car. Only modifications are factory GTI springs, GTI skirts, recalibrated steering to GTI spec, and the roof rack. This will be mine once the Yaris gets here. Not sure how much longer I am going to keep it though. I absolutely love the car but two doors is a pain in the ass (and my back) with a child. I'd go for a four door Golf but those only come with an automatic now unless you go TDI or GTI. Leaning towards a WRX or Forester XT if gas prices aren't too crazy.

This is my daily driver:

1989 8v Jetta Wolfsburg Edition. Unknown mileage as the odometer stopped working when the prior owner replaced the speedo cable. I purchased it for $500 over a year ago, got it running, and got to work making it a reliable roadworthy car. Once the Yaris gets here I am going to take it off the road, strip it, put it on a rotisserie, and do a complete rebuild.

I traded up from a '94 Geo Metro 3-door...which makes my new Yaris feel like an LS-series Lexus.

Those VWs sure are beautifully styled cars. Yummy.

Went from a 1994 V6 Camry with 314,000 Km on the odometer to our present vehicle. The colour on the Camry was a metallic bronze. There were a few scrapes, scratches and minor dents on the body. My wife wanted a new colour (red) so I told her to go over to the local Toyota dealer to pick out a red paint so we would have a genuine Toyota colour on the Camry.

An hour later she showed up at home with a new red Yaris 4 door sedan and said that this is what she wanted and she was saving me money because the Yaris used a lot less gas than the Camry.

With reasoning like that how could I say no.

I had a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder SE. I miss the horsepower and torque but i don't miss spending large amounts of money on gas! Now I have this sexy ride! :)

we had a 98 tercel, it was my father's car but over the years i've driven it as our spare car. until it got to the point that it was no longer doable for regular commuting. thats when we decided to jump on the 2012 yaris 3 door.

my other cars are my 05 evolution and my 96 del sol they are both more like play cars... lol

I don't drive one yet, but when I will, it will replace my '99 Civic hatchback DX.

I drove a 1992 Honda Civic VX hatchback, with 5-speed manual. I bought it in 1992, with 6000 miles on it (it was a repo). It was a great car, 43 MPG, but I finally couldn't get it to pass the smog test. I sold it to the smog test guy for $1,000, with 196,000 miles on it.

My wish list for a replacement car included: (1) Great gas mileage, (2) manual transmission, (3) no power anything, and (4) as short as, or shorter than, the Civic. My new Yaris is getting just over 40 MPG, which is fine. It has power locks (but not remote locks, which I definitely didn't want), and electric power steering, which I can live with. And it's about 6 inches shorter than the Civic. Overall, after about three weeks with my new Yaris, I really enjoy driving it.

Drove a white Mazda 323 Astina BG (pop-up headlights) until the torque converter gave out on me. Great little car, but previous owners didn't take good care of it. My wife wanted a small, reliable, economic car... So we got the Yaris! :D

What's too bad with the yaris compared to old Civic, it's that we feel like driving a minivan since it's so high. At least the 2012 yaris as adjustable height standard on the driver seat. However, I don't know about the VX steering, but Yaris PS >>> PS on my '99 civic. I even switched the steering pinion for an Integra one (3.2 turns lock to lock instead of 3.6) since it was so terrible.
