I'm assuming that the base model doesn't have VSC or TRC?

depends. in 2010, US base model has VSC and TRAC standard, no off switch,
you need to do the foot pedal dance to deactivate

Doubtful, probably because they weren't equipped with it in the first place, at least in my 07's case. There is definitely mention in various countries of Toyota sites, but I guess the only way to find out is to have your VIN checked, because I don't even know if the gauge cluster has anything for VSC/TRAC equipped Yarises (yes, not Yari).

It will always be Yarises. This yari non sense has gotten way out of hand!

Consider yourself lucky, the trac control can be a pain in the ass sometimes. But if I had kids I guess it would be a good idea to have it. It has saved me once in the winter when I was blowing through 30cm's of snow when going through an intersection at 4am on a sunday. Some guy decided he could make the left quick enough in the snow and ended up stopping in the middle of the intersection and I had to suddenly manouver around him at a pretty decent speed and the yaris was about to spin out (or atleast it felt like it was) and the trac control kicked in and corrected my path before I could even come back on the throttle to correct it myself.

On the track it is a total nuisance.

You can - Do absolutely nothing to disable VSC and Traction control, as they were not added to the Yaris until 2010. You may have ABS, but not VSC or TRAC.
