How to Disable Trac Control/VSC on the Yaris TS

Info below provided by ANDRIES and I have personally confirmed that it works on 07/08 models.

switch off TRC and VSC
Oke, here we go;

baseline, engine is off en handbrake is off (downwards)

0. put the key in "contact"
1. clutch downwards
2. handbrake on (up)
3. start engine
4. push twice on the feet brake and by the second time keep it down.
5. handbrake off (down), handbrake on (up),handbrake off (down), handbrake on (up)
6. again push twice on the feet brake and by the second time NOT keep it down.

TRC and VSC lights go on. Both systems now off.

To put the systems ON simple switch off the engine. When you start again the systems are working normal.

I hope I have made a translation in English you understand.

Let me know if it was successful to switch it off.

Good luck

Andries

Castrex, I read you have Smart Entry & Start System on your car, just like mine

How do you do the first step - key in "contact"? Just clutch in and Start the engine?

Also, can you tell me where can I find these hidden electronic "secret" programming tidbits? I want my car to auto lock the doors when you start driving (30 kph or so) and unlock when you shut the engine off (I had a 2008 Hilux that had this info on the owners manual and I was successful in programing it - since the local dealer here does not help us much in getting info like you posted)

On the smart entry system the "key in contact" is just one click on the ignition. So the light on the start turns in orange. No need to push the clutch. is just the equivalent to start the ignition.

It was Andries who found this little trick!! I have no idea where e got it.

This is actually intended to put the car in "Dealer Mode" for revisions and such.

I actually went and got it right the first time!

It's kinda funny to do all the steps to get there.... but you DO get there! I took it for a drive around the block (it's raining cats and dogs right now here in PTY) and with the NST pulley and TC off you definitely feel more spirited response (and wheel spin in the wet)

Thanks again

TC

if you have a switch

you hit the switch to disable trac, it will re-enable trac when your
speed increases

you hit and hold the switch, it will disable both trac and vsc, and that will not re-enable when speed increases

that is how it is supposed to work when you have 'the button'

Well guys, I turned of VSC using this method as I did a few times before. Eight of us went to a snow and ice covered empty parking lot and had realy good time :)

In the middle of that 50 minute driving check engine light came on. From that moment on, VSC and check engine became permenanty lit.

Today I decided to desconnect battery to reset error code. Now everything works fine.

My guess is that this way od disableing VSC is for diagnostic purposes only. The car thought there is an error vith VSC and disabled it permanently. What do you think?

The vsc code works fine,
did you find out how to do the code with the automatic door lock?

Get a piece of wire and short pins 4 and 12 on the obd port briefly just after you start the engine.
This should make alot of lights flash on the dash. Now turn off the engine again without the shorting wire and you should have tc and vsc lights on the dash.

To turn it back on
Short those two pins before the engine is started and leave it In while you start the car
Now pump the brake pedal around 10 times
Turn the engine off, remove wire
Now it will be reset
