The oil sandwich is oil under pressure, it won't work for a return line. That is why you tap into the pan. I welded a nipple onto mine, it's easy to do or have someone do for you. You want the oil return line to be as high up as possible, you do not want oil creeping back up into the turbo (due to pressure, level or crank windage).
