door release cable replacement

My 2004 Yaris has a broken cable from the interior release lever to the door lock; the ball-end has broken off where it joins the release lever.
I've managed to get as far as removing the door panel and the release-lever and the polythene seal. I have a new cable assembly (69710-0D020) but I can't see how to disconnect and remove the old cable from the lock end.

Can anyone give me advice on this please? Thanks.

You have to pop the cover open on the latch assembly to gain access to the end of the cable:

Yaris door release cable snapped

Interesting pics there , I take it the whole assembly has to be taken off the door

Yes - You have to remove the screws on the edge of the door, around the latch slot, to remove the lock assembly to gain access to the cable ends.

I have the same problem. Where can I get the new cable from? I've tried searching for 69710-0D020 but I only get sites that will send me a quote in a few days.

PS Have found the help on here for finding out what the problem was really useful- thanks

Now got cable from toyota dealer. (£20!) But I can't see how to get the lock assembly off. I've taken off the three star-head screws on the edge of the door, and two bolts on the inside of the door. It now moves up and and down quite freely but something is stopping it from coming back out of the door to where I can see it to have a go at the cable.

You have to pull down on the lock assembly and while doing so pull off the outside handle.
