Crashy celebrates 4 years of plowing!

I realized this morning, while my daughter and I were plowing the 8 inches of heavy wet snow off the driveway with Crashy, that this week marks her fourth anniversary of plowing.

This year she gained a set of doors, which is really nice for stopping the rooster tail of snow from flying into the sides of the seat, when you make spin the tires. (Unfortunately though they are just temporary until they ship to a friend overseas).

She is actually still running on the same gas that was in her tank, when I bought in the spring of 2009. She had 1/2 tank and now is finally hitting the last bar. Not bad for 4 years of winter plowing and fair weather yard work.

My 14 year old daughter has become quite the skilled Crashy operator, and I suspect that when she gets her driver's license in 14 months that she will be the only one in her driver's education class with such experience.

How does the wiring cope with the water coming in?

Amazingly well. With the lack of a windshield the dash gets a good coating of snow (when I plow while it is still snowing) and when I bring her back into the garage what I miss wiping off melts and drips down, but with just making sure that she is fully dried out after each round, I have had no issues. Even the radio, which often gets wet, still works perfectly, even with CDs.

Would be funny to have your daughter drive up to the DMV in that thing!

...and such experience will probably put your daughter ahead of her class when it comes to confidence, especially when she gets to driver training. Congratulations, and Happy Anniversary!

snif...snif...!

I'm getting old...this photo makes me feel all warm & fuzzy

It reminds me of growing up west of Chicago in the 60s & 70s...the trees around your place and the snow. We had snow on the ground all Winter long usually.
Yes, she will be ahead of the pack when drivers ed comes along. I was from driving quite a bit before it was 'official'
Thanks for posting this. It's funny, I've shown about everyone in my life the story of Crashy...they all think it's cool!

Too freeking much.....that thing cracks me up! The tight turning radius would be a real plus for a plow rig. Do the rear tires ever lift off the ground? ha ha.

The turning radius is a huge plus. The rears never lift, but they could also probably be removed. I plowed one day without realizing that the ebrake was on the whole time.
