So I just about totalled my car today...

So it was a bad morning. Short version: it was raining heavily, other people suck, I was driving to fast for how heavy the rain was, spin out, guard rail. ::sigh:: Luckily no one was hurt, and it is just a car.

So i am gonna get it towed back to my garage for a tear down, and see what it need to get it road worthy again, otherwise, it might just end up being a track car. It really bums me out, all the work I did an this happens. Live and learn.

I really want to stay active here and help with DIY's and help promote the community.

Worst case scenario, I will use the car parts as a template to hopefully make parts for the yaris community.

So sorry to see this, but thank goodness you or no one else were injured! I also doubt it will see the road again, but turning it into a track car would be sweet!

My condolences. Doesn't look good, I would say that the "just about" in the title can be safely removed. Glad you are OK and again sorry to see this.

Your lucky to be ok and glad to read it...........

As for the car, if your regulations are similar as up here it's a total loss. Monocoque frame is damaged, motor must have moved as well among many, many other issues. Air bag deployed also.

Glad that you are okay! How many of your airbags deployed on that? Glad you survived those also.

Just the drivers airbag deployed. Thankfully it didn't even touch me. I pretty much didn't even move. After getting it home and tearing into the front end, both frame rail ends are bent. Don't think it's even worth getting into trying to fix. Luckily if the insurance company doesn't total it, then it can be fixed and put back on the road. Between the front end rails, and the quarter panel, I don't think I am gonna worry about fixing this one. Maybe do some custom tube frames in the front, and track it. I dunno. Really bummed at this point.

Glad you're okay. You can always get a cheap roller and swap everything over.

Totaled is an insurance industry term referring to the economic viability of repair vs replace

My neighbor's $140K Mercedes AMG E63S Sedan was smashed worse than yours and they actually repaired it for $85K !!! Took 7 months !!!

Was it because of the extra horsepower? 2zrfe in a YARI might not be safe!

Nah more likely the front being heavier, and the already light rear end.

Driving too fast for the conditions, which he admitted to. Could have just as easily happened with the 1NZ.

It wasn't because of the extra HP on any level, it was like a monsoon out. I am pretty sure I just hit a spot where the water was to deep and hydroplaned, and the rear end swung out.

Kinda like one of those things, where at the time I didn't think I was going to fast for conditions, because I didn't think it was even that bad. Lesson learned. ::sigh::
