I think center caps off too. Need to find some generic ones to pop in the middle.

Check out the PO exhaust repair.

A license plate!
It was fully broken. I have a new muffler on the way.

What are these connectors for? Under center console.

Got the brakes done and the other wheel on.

and fixed the hatch lock, sort of. It was jammed, so I unjammed it and now the key kind of works, there is still something wrong with it. I have to push it in only part way to turn it because of these little notches in the plastic. Its like there is a piece or spring missing.

Took it apart to make it move again:

The key must be worn out so it doesn't want to unlock as easily but it will actually do it now(didn't before).

This little piece hits the metal here:

Hits and jams when I am unlocking it, I can lock it when its unlocked, but nearly impossible to unlock again. Its very strange, I can sometimes do it if I only push the latch button in part way.

There is a channel for a little plastic piece and it only works when the button is slightly pushed in like I mentioned before. Doesn't seem right...

Also decided to paint the back part since I will be putting in a cargo type area, should look nicer.

Some random parts I need that people might be nice enough to send me?
  • Shift Knob - stock or otherwise
  • Passenger Side Visor
  • Stock Radio

If someone is parting a vehicle let me know. Might be interested in some random interior stuff.

It's coming along nicely. I like the wheels! I vote centre caps on.

New muffler.
Had some exhaust paint left over from some time ago and just gave it a few coats(dries matte). Figured it will keep the rust off for a few extra months.

Actually looks pretty slick for being stock! I think that white stuff is grease, I don't seem to see it anywhere but in this photo, weird.

Time for the radiator.

Really have to remove the cross member? Come on. haha

Got an automatic one since that is all RockAuto seems to stock for cheap. No difference anyway.

New rad in.

Also gave the engine cover and intake the quick WD-40 Spit shine. Works so well.

^^^ Looks good. Plus, I like the conventional design. Let us know how it sounds; it's supposed to be quiet like the stock muffler.

The connectors under the center console are for the AT shift lever. Park lock, key lock, indicators, etc. The wire harness is the same for both versions.

Overall an awesome find! I'm really impressed by the amount of work you're putting into restoring it!

Will do! It looked pretty good for $66 CAD. Looked exactly the same as the rusted one I pulled off, but no idea if that one was stock. I ran it for a few minutes, but not long enough for the seal to heat and expand yet so there could be some sound leak there.

Thanks! Should be on the road in a few days. Can't wait.

Ah, okay, too bad, I was thinking maybe they would have been more useful. Ill have to check out some wiring diagrams(on the forums maybe?).

Are you looking to put something in the console where the 4 inserts are?

Maybe, just thinking about future, fog lights, or custom electronics. Nothing really important. Maybe I can use those plugs for some switched power if I grab a couple connectors from an auto at the junkyard.

What switches come in inserts from factory? Power window switches?

Ill probably put USB power next to the cig lighter and/or USB connection to the radio.

The inserts have the traction off switch, I think the ipod hook up thing if you pay for it, and the power door lock switch.

Aux, USB/Aux, door lock, traction control are the ones I know of. There may be more in other vehicles. You can also put some small connectors or switches on blanks, but there's a LOT of ribs on the underside that have to be trimmed away to fit anything else.

Daily/business courier. Haha

Main reason, truck frame is rusty and I want to repair it. So this is replacing it in the meantime.

Second reason, I did a very successful kickstarter recently and I have thousands of packages to ship. I love about 1.5hr from border and shipping the in US will save me thousands of dollars. I wanted A small hatch that was cheap on gas that could haul the packages. Plus it doesn't hurt that I love small hatches.

I really just want to get it to "Stage 0" and clean it up so it's a nice comfy car. The truck is far from comfy. However often I can't help myself so I may do small things to it here or there.

Yes, bought it for $750 with 175k Miles on it, ran so smooth. No rust. Suspension was a little clunky even after replacing almost everything, but it was solid enough. Just thin sheet metal, doors were 1" thick. When I bought it...

Those are 12" trailer tires. No aspect ratio, only one size! And found this in the car!

Drove it for a few months, saved hundreds in gas commuting, put a couple hundred in parts rims and tires on it. Sold it for $1750. I sold it because I was going to have to import it to Canada from the states and just didn't have time to figure it out... also, unsafe for friends and family haha
