Post Garm's AFE intake vs. TRD high flow air filter????

I am trying to decide if I should go with the AFE intake on micro-image or the trd high-flow filter. My main interests are low maintenance, fuel efficiency, sound, and a little bit of a performance gain, the price isn't as important if the AFE is really worth twice as much.

Does anyone who has used either solution have anything to say? How is the performance, fuel mileage with each? Would Toyota dealers not honor my warranty because of the AFE intake? Overall is the AFE really worth 2x more $? Any suggestions are helpful.

They won't honor your warranty if a CEL or anything is to backfire from the intake... they didnt honor my Fujita F% last time i went there for a problem~~
If you have TRD CAI AND installed by them, they will warranty it then, and only then~

AFE is easier to maintain, clean filter, etc...I dont have to much insight on it, but a lot of people on here are happy w/ it :)

TRD CAI does not have a warranty because its for off road use only no matter if its installed
by the dealer or not.

Not true all TRD parts if installed by your dealer is under warranty. Your dealer must suck. Cause up here they will even locate the parts for u

That only applies to TRD parts approved for highway use. Check the TRD website for the warranty
info. It states that there is no warranty for the off road use only products. Whether or not your
dealership will warranty the part is up to them but TRD will not.

TRD parts are covered under warranty. TRD parts have a parts based warranty as well if installed by a dealer a labor warranty. Don't let your dealer tell you otherwise. They have to prove to you otherwise.

If you install a TRD part you still have a parts warranty on that product and the dealership has to prove your install is what broke the TRD part.

Actually I was talking about the TRD high flow air filter:

air_filter_red.jpg

It is basically just a deep pleet oil media replacement for the crappy paper filter that comes stock. The TRD cai system is like $1,000! \

It seems like everyone pretty much agrees though that the AEM is a lot better even though it costs more than 3X more?

AEM? I thought we were comparing this filter to the aFe intake.

The aFe intake has larger piping throughout, so it's actually a replacement for the whole intake system, ending at the throttle body.

computerlove87, get the TRD CAI from Sparks...its like $300...or get Garm's AFE for under $200?

Thanks for clearing up Tim... Some of your guy's dealerships like to throw false info at you, dont let them do that... My service managers have specifically said TRD are under warranty if installed by dealers...they didnt cover the (install yourself) and you still have parts warranty w/ me because they were looking to make money off of me~~

furthermore an aftermarket intake won't void any portion of your warranty in any way unless it is directly responsible for the failure of the warantee'd part.

it blows me away that people don't know about a law that is older than most individuals ON THE BOARD itself.

Another thing to think about if you go the AFE route is which filter to get: Pro Dry S, Pro 5R, or Pro-Guard 7. I believe it ranges from highest air flow/least filtration > least/most filtration but still better flow over OEM.
