Newbie wheel question... :) sorry if its a repeat.

Ooookay, heres my ordeal:

I have an 08' liftback 3dr- i have a set of bbs lm reps 17x7.5 +40. Im going to put on tanabe df210 the 1.6"/1.8" springs. Anyone running this sort of setup?

Im trying to decide what tires to go with... i was looking at the kuhmo ecsta ast in 205/40/17? How bad do you think ill rub? Im also looking at 195/40/17 from yoko s, would these be better maybe? 5mm spacer on rear?

Thoughts? (I know theres a wheel guide but it doesnt give specific offset info :) )

Ive heard stories of both rubbing and those thay say absolutely no issues. :)

Any heads up is much appreciated! Im a fairly big guy so im worried about rubbing on driver side in specific if driver weight matters. :)

Thanks!

I am running AMRs which dropped me 2" in the front and never rubbed on my 205/40/17s. I know those are different springs, but mine are setup with the same progressive response as the stock spring rates. I was as heavy as 275lbs at one point with them on. I only rubbed in the rear with the car fully loaded so that a fly would suffocate when I moved. Not sure how big a guy you are in comparision, but thought that I would offer up that bit of info.

Cool! Thank you ^^ thats about the same size i am. I range from 265-275. I was worried about turn at full crank. It looked aweful close when i mached the wheels up :)

Any issues turning wise? Full crank? Also tire pressure sensor? Anyissues?

Thanks fnkngrv!

i have the same springs and similar wheels. i had 205/40 and 205/45 the 45's rub a bunch. the 40's didnt nearly as bad, only big bumps at higher speeds, or if the car is loaded with weight. i never rub turning the wheel though with the 205. so you should be good if you want to go with a bigger tire.

Right on. Im probably going to go with 205/40 in the front and 215/40 in the rear then. So i dont have to worry about spacers. To flush it all out with the fenders.

I would go with the 205 all around and add the spacer in the back ...that way you can rotate them tires for an even thread .

pics with the rims please ...BBS LM is one of my favourite rims.

^ What they all said, 205/40/17's all around will be best, and add a 5 or 10mm spacer in the rear. (Be sure to use longer studs if added a 10mm wheel spacer.)
