Reese Hitch

I purchased a Reese Hitch 77191
It is NOT a perfect fit. I will need longer bolts for the upper bolt placement or i will need to start cutting of the hitch itself.....am i doing something wrong?

You can see by the scrapping on the (2) humps where the hitch is hitting them.
2008 Hatchback.

Compare the hole to hole measurements on the hitch and car. You might have gotten one that was assembled incorrectly.

CTScott, very hard to measure, but I did bolt the bottom enough to get it to hold while I put a smaller screw through the top hole to check alignment. It fits. the issue is that the welded bracket is not cut right and it hitting the humps in the above pic.

Looks almost like it needs a spacer.

You wouldn't want a space there. I would either just notch it with an angle grinder, or return it for one that fits. I installed a Curt hitch on my 09 liftback and it was a very quick and painless install.
